The Amedeo Guitar Duo is a classical guitar partnership between two lifelong musicians who picked up a guitar 50 years ago and have spent the requisite 10,000 hours to master this beautiful instrument. John and Django both reside in Sonoma, CA and have been performing together since 2010.
John has been playing guitar since he was 14 and attended the School of Music at Catholic University of America as a performance major. His teachers have included students of Andres Segovia and Aaron Shearer and he has performed with the National Symphony and for Pablo Casals. While pursuing a busy career as a software executive, John has performed in many ensembles and as a soloist playing a wide range of music genres. Having retired to Sonoma in 2011 he continues to pursue his love of music with a guitar made for him by the renowned luthier, Robert Ruck.
Django learned piano at the age of 7 from his father. By the time he was 18 he had fallen in love with the classical guitar and attended Grand Valley State College where he studied music and poetry. After graduation, Django was recruited into his brother’s rock and roll cover band which played all over the U.S., opening for major acts at well-known Las Vegas venues. Leaving the rock scene, he moved to Carmel and studied classical guitar formally with Guy Horn, a first call studio player. Now retired in Sonoma, Django spends a lot of quality time with his vintage Ramirez guitar.
